Stayed here for a conference while several other large events were also happening. Despite the hotel being full we never felt rushed. Check in was at 4 as obviously room change over was difficult but very friendly staff offered to hold our luggage and give us a call when our room was ready.
Room was nice – cityscape room and the extras were as advertised. Internet was a little slow at times but expected due to heavy traffic. Had dinner at Porticos both nights and was well worth it. Wait staff/bartender was excellent and would like to give a big shout out to Elaine ( hope this is right) one of the friendliest and most professional staff I have ever met. We are very grateful for the strawberries that appeared later the evening and can give unconditional recommendations for the desserts. Had a great time listening to the impromptu concert that happened in the lounge as we settled for the evening before supper and Junos.
Only slight things kept this from having the effortless feel of a five star – no creamers etc found for coffee in the fridge for the AM eyeopener and failure to replenish the coffee the next morning. Both dealt with efficiently by staff but would have been nice to have them just happen. Breakfast continental was nice but two of the three mornings it was hard to find a clean spot as staff seemed slow to clean up places – maybe a factor that most people weren’t paying for breakfast and therefore not tipping?
We walked to the Junos at the Air Canada Centre and the PATH made this a warm comfortable walk for the extensive distance ( 25 minutes) – window shopping made the time pass quickly. Eaton’s Centre a block a way, easily accessed by the PATH also or a block on street level.
Checkout easy and allowed us the courtesy of a slight extended stay as we were taking an early evening Porter flight. Kiosk in lobby that allows check in to numerous airlines much nicer that the single airline kiosk I have encountered elsewhere.
As I stated had a great time and would go back. Had an accompanying spouse and the extra space afforded by the suite was great for loitering over a book or coffee while he waited breaks from the conference if he didn’t go off visiting sites.
